Wright Way Animal Rescue Opens in Morton Grove
In less than a year from the destruction of its former facility in Niles - Wright-Way Rescue has re-opened to a larger facility.

“Staff and volunteers began training in our new facility the first week of September,” said Shelby Walchuk, Director of Operations & Public Relations at Wright-Way Rescue. “It’s an on-going process as we work to perfect our existing processes and integrate exciting, new technology into our daily operations – technology that will not only increase our efficiency but also enhance the customer experience.”
Wright-Way’s new facility, located at 5915 Lincoln Avenue, just half a block east of the intersection of Austin and Lincoln, is 13,000 square feet, roughly three times as large as its former location.
“We’ve really evolved as an organization as a result of the larger space we now occupy. The pace of our growth is impressive to say the least,” Walchuk commented, referring to the host of new programs Wright-Way plans to unveil this fall: an expanded retail store, obedience classes, family service nights, children’s birthday parties, private tours, junior volunteer opportunities, and corporate team-building to name a few. An on-site, full-service veterinary clinic is anticipated in 2015.

The move to a new location also necessitated a new name for the facility. “Considering the list of additional services and programs Wright-Way now offers to the community beyond pet adoption, calling us a ‘shelter’ just didn’t seem to fit anymore,” reflected Christy Anderson, Executive Director & Founder of Wright-Way Rescue. “Our adopters become our family. And we want to provide them with a convenient, friendly place to shop, train, and maintain the health of their pet. All of this can be done at Wright-Way Rescue now, and so North Shore Humane Center for Adoption, Wellness, and Community Education is a better description of who we are and what we do.”
The grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony was held on a bright autumn day - for Saturday, September 27 at 9:00 a.m. The event was open to the public and included guests were the Mayor, Clerk and Village Trustees of Morton Grove, The President and Board of the Chamber of Commerce of Morton Grove and members of Wright-Way Rescue’s Board of Directors.

“Now that our doors are open, we are focusing on raising funds to continue our mission. We have many opportunities for individuals and businesses to partner with us through adoption handbook advertising, individual membership circles, and corporate partnerships. In addition, we still have several naming opportunities available for our adopters and supporters to become a part of our legacy,” said Lisa Aiken, Wright-Way Rescue’s Director of Development.

Wright-Way Rescue is a no-kill, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Its mission is to reduce the number of homeless pets euthanized in the Midwest each year through an adoption program, community education, promotion of spaying and neutering, and a veterinary medicine program. It continues to save pets from rural animal control facilities where they are at a high risk of euthanasia, and instead offer them a second chance at a loving home in the Chicagoland area. Wright-Way places more dogs in adoptive homes than any other rescue in the State of Illinois on just 10% of the budget.
