15th Annual Liberty Loop Welcomes Runners of All Ages In Northbrook

NORTHBROOK, IL — Get your running and walking shoes ready. The Northbrook Park District will be hosting the 15th annual Liberty Loop 5K Run/Walk and Liberty Lap 1 Mile Fun Run For Kids on Saturday, July 1. The fun begins at 7:30 a.m. at Techny Prairie Park & Fields, 1700 Techny Road.

The scenic Liberty Loop Run/Walk is held on a certified 5K course through Techny Prairie Park and Fields and Meadowhill Park, according to a news release. Winners receive medals, and pre-registered participants receive a dry-fit T-shirt, a gift bag and post-race refreshments. Children 5 and under can run/walk the 5K event at no charge, but need to be registered.

The one-mile modified Liberty Loop course, also known as the Liberty Lap, welcomes junior joggers. The course winds along the Trail Through Time. Young runners receive a T-shirt and gift bag, according to organizers.

Online registration for both events is available at nbparks.org. Packet pickup will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 29, in the lobby at Techny Prairie Activity Center, 180 Abets Drive, or at the race start area on event day beginning at 6:45am, July 1.
