2 Stores Robbed in 1 Day, Offenders Flee: Police
Suspended driver gave officer brother's name, faces multiple charges.

RETAIL THEFT
Dariusz Leonczyk, 37, Homer Glen was charged with retail theft at 3:08 p.m. on February 15 in the 800 block of Willow Rd. The defendant exited the store without paying for $6.98 in merchandise. The defendant was issued a local ordinance ticket and released.

ARMED ROBBERY
The victim, a store employee, related that a white man in his 20s, approximately six feet tall, entered the store in the 300 block of Skokie Hwy. at 9:21 a.m. on February 15 and pulled out a knife and demanded all the money in the drawer. The victim gave him the money from the register and the offender fled on foot toward parking lot. The victim could not determine if a vehicle was involved or the direction the offender fled.

SPEEDING (26-34 MPH)
Daniel Z. Lipschultz, 28, Highland Park was charged with speeding (25-34 mph) and having no valid insurance at 3:04 a.m. on February 15 in the 1400 block of Lake Cook Rd. An officer observed the defendant’s vehicle traveling at 72 mph in a posted 40 mile per hour zone. Officers stopped the defendant’s vehicle, he was placed under arrest and transported to the station where he was processed and released on bond.
ARMED ROBBERY
The victim, a store employee, stated that the offender entered the business in the 1000 block of Waukegan Road at 12:09 a.m. on February 15 displayed a weapon and demanded the victim give him the money from the registers. The victim opened the registers but they had been emptied prior to the robbery attempt. When the offender realized that the cash drawers were empty he exited the business through the front door. The offender then approached a delivery driver, who had just driven up to the business. The delivery driver observed the offender and drove out of the parking lot. Responding officers along with the canine unit tracked the offender’s path to the rear parking lot where the track ended.
SUSPENDED DRIVER
Rashaas C. Ford, 21, Chicago was stopped at Dundee and Sanders roads at 4:58 p.m. on February 18 amd charged with driving while D/L suspended, No proof of insurance, Expired registration, Improper lane usage, Failure to wear a seatbelt, Speeding, Suspended registration and obstructing justice, a felony. The officer stopped the defendant’s vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver could not produce a driver’s license but gave the officer a name the officer later learned was the driver’s brother’s name. He was placed under arrest, processed and later the Cook County ASA approved a felony complaint for obstruction of justice. The defendant was transported to Skokie Bond court on Thursday morning.
THEFT
The victim reported that offenders removed $720 from his wallet which was in an unlocked locker at 4:45 p.m. in the 2700 block of Techny Rd.
THEFT
The complainant, at 11:46 a.m. on February 17 in the 1400 block of Shermer Rd., reported discovering that a small manila envelope, which had contained an 18ct gold wedding ring, was empty. The ring was valued at over $2,000. The complainant reported that she had left the envelope in her purse on a kitchen counter while moving into a new residence.
