9-1-1 Hangup Results In Drug Arrest: Northbrook Crime

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information is a record of arrests and incidents reported to the Northbrook Police Department. Readers are reminded than an arrest is not an indication of guilt and that criminal charges merely represent accusations. Everyone is presumed innocent until their guilt is established in court.

DRUG POSSESSION
Mateusz Bieniewski, 30, of the 4100 block of Cove Lane in Glenview, was arrested May 30 at 2:41 a.m. and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. According to police, officers responded to a hung up 911 call in the parking lot at the BP gas station in the 1900 block of Willow Road. Upon arrival, police found Bieniewski arguing with two other people. While determining why they had been called, Northbrook police noticed that the Bieniewski's behavior appeared that he was under the influence.

Officers asked if he was on any medication at the time and he replied he wasn’t and voluntarily started emptying his pockets. Officers located some pills in a container which the defendant did not have a prescription. The pills, acetaminophen (Tylonol with codeine) and hydrocodone bitartrate (Vicadin) are controlled substances. Bieniewski was placed under arrest, and prosecutors approved felony charges. A court hearing has been scheduled for 9 a.m. June 28 in Skokie.
REVOKED LICENSE
Kimberly S. Williams, 28, of the 1900 block of Lee in Evanston, was arrested May 26 at 8:25 a.m. in the 3200 block of Dundee. She was was stopped after officers observed her vehicle commit a traffic violation and found to have a revoked license. She was placed under arrest, processed and released after posting bond.
WARRANT ARREST
Mark P. Tracy, 58, of the 5700 block of North Major in Chicago, was arrested at 12:20 p.m. on May 26. Police pulled him over around the intersection of Birch and Techny roads after witnessing him commit a traffic violation. While checking the status of the defendant’s driver’s license, officers learned that the defendant was wanted by Des Plaines police for fraud and was turned over to Des Plaines Police Department.

SHOPLIFTING
Dennis J. Belcastro, 63, of the 1800 block of Brandywyn in Buffalo Grove was cited for shoplifting May 26 at 2:43 p.m. from the Neiman Marcus store in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road. He was seen by store security removing an $85 polo shirt and an $85 wallet and leaving the store without paying for the merchandise. He was issued a local ordinance citation and released at the scene.
DUI
James N. Thompson, 55, of the 2800 block of West Walnut Hill in Irving, Texas was arrested May 26 at 2:46 p.m. after police responded to a car that crashed into a tree in the 4000 block Picardy Drive. After speaking to the driver, police determined he was under the influence and placed him under arrest. He was processed and released after posting bond with a court date set for July 6.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT
On May 26, shortly after 4 p.m., a 32-year-old Northbrook man of the 800 block of Hawthorne was issued a local ordinance citation after allegedly threatening a person over a dispute. Police advised both parties to cease contact with each other.
INCIDENTS
STOLEN AUTO
A caller reported discovering his unlocked 2010 Ford was stolen from his driveway in the 300 block of Forestway Drive during the night of May 31. The vehicle keys were in the car along with the victim’s wallet.
CAR BURGLARIES
- A caller reported that during the overnight hours of May 30 someone entered his unlocked 2011 Jeep parked in the 2300 block of Catherine and removed his wallet containing approximately $20 and some credit cards.
- A caller reported that between 10:30pm on May 30 and 7 a.m. the following day offenders entered her locked vehicle and rummaged through the center console and glove compartment. Nothing was stolen and there was no indication how the offenders entered the locked auto, which was parked on the 3200 block of Lakeside.
- A caller reported that during the overnight hours of May 30, someone entered their 2004 Mercury parked in the 3000 block of Keystone and searched through the vehicle, but nothing was stolen.
- A caller reported that between 10 p.m. on May 30 and 6:45 a.m. on May 31, someone entered their unlocked 2012 Mazda parked on the 2200 block of Catherine Street and removed several miscellaneous items.
- A caller reported that someone entered their unlocked Lexus parked on the 2900 block of Weller sometime during overnight hours of May 31, but did not believe anything was stolen.
- A caller reported that during the overnight hours of May 31 someone entered her unlocked Mercedes parked in a driveway in the 2900 block of Weller and took the ashtray, which contained a few dollars in change.
- A caller reported that sometime during the overnight hours of May 31 someone entered his 2007 GMC parked on the 2900 block of Weller and took a Samsung Galaxy phone.
- A caller reported that offenders entered her unlocked 2015 Mercedes on the night of May 31 and removed three bags containing $500 worth of nutritional supplements from a vehicle parked in the 1800 block of South Lane.
- A caller reported that in the overnight hours of May 31st offenders entered her unlocked 2008 Jeep parked in the 1800 block of South Lane and removed a purse from the vehicle. The reported loss was around $600.
