All-School Assembly Celebrates Blue Ribbon Win At Northbrook Jr High
School officials visited Washington, D.C. last month to accept the award.

NORTHBROOK, IL — A number of local officials joined the students and staff for an all-school assembly Friday to celebrate Northbrook Junior High School's recent win as a National Blue Ribbon School.State Rep. Jennifer Gong-Gerschowicz, tate Sen. Julie Morrison and a representative from Sen. Laura Fine's office were among special guests at the celebration, according to Northbrook District 28 officials. U.S. Rep. Brad Schneider was in Washington, D.C. at the time of the assembly, so he created a video greeting for students and staff.
In addition, the school's concert band, 6th-grade chorus and philharmonic, and the chamber orchestras all performed.
Last month, Principal Dr. Scott Meek, District 28 Superintendent Dr. Jason Pearson and teacher representative Wendy Concklin accepted the 2023 National Blue Ribbon School award for the school on Nov. 17 in Washington, D.C.

According to district officials, NJH was among 353 schools nationwide and 20 schools in Illinois to receive the award, based on the school's overall academic performance, this year. NJH also won the award in 1992.
