NORTHBROOK, IL — Hundreds of Northbrook Days visitors stopped by a kosher food stand operated by Chabad at Northbrook during the annual community festival, organizers said.
The stand, called Yalla!, offered kosher food while also giving Chabad members an opportunity to connect with local Jewish families and share religious traditions.
Chabad at Northbrook is located at 2095 Landwehr Road.
Organizers said visitors received Shabbat candles and had opportunities to put on Tefillin, a Jewish ritual involving small leather boxes containing passages from the Torah.
Among the weekend's memorable moments, Chabad said four young boys put on Tefillin for the first time.
The organization described the festival as an opportunity to reconnect with longtime community members while meeting new families.
"Thank you to everyone who stopped by to eat, schmooze, or do a Mitzvah with us," Chabad said following the event.
Organizers also thanked sponsors Dr. Stanford and Randy Barr, along with Martin Stuart Decal and Sign Ltd., Mizrahi Grill and volunteers who helped operate the stand.
