“The Tale of the Whale” by Northbrook Theatre for Young Audiences on stage Sept. 13-26

The new season of Northbrook Theatre for Young Audiences will begin soon with the return of the family favorite "Tale of the Whale" starting Sunday, Sept. 13.

Performances are back at the Northbrook Park District's Northbrook Community Center, which reopened this summer after extensive renovation. The building features the familiar 268-seat Northbrook Theatre along with a new Studio Theatre with flex seating for up to 172.

Northbrook Theatre for Young Audiences (NTYA) features professional actors and serves as a wonderful introduction to theater for children as young as 2 years old.

"The Tale of the Whale" is directed by Jonathan Shmidt Chapman, an award-winning theater artist, writer and Jewish educator who created a production offering music, sensory engagement and gentle interaction.

The show will be on stage Sept. 13-26 and is best suited for ages 2-5. Tickets are $18 each.

Other NTYA shows this season are:

• "Pete the Cat" directed by Kate Sullivan Coombs from Nov. 14 to Dec. 6.
• "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" directed by Ashley Laverty from Feb. 6-28
• "Across the Sand" directed by Jonathan Shmidt Chapman from April 10-25
