NORTHBROOK, IL — Families will have a chance to get an up-close look at fire trucks, police cars, construction equipment and other vehicles when the Northbrook Park District's Touch A Truck returns Saturday, Sept. 26.
The free event runs from 10 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of UL Solutions, 333 Pfingsten Road.
"Whether you are excited to check out the fire truck or experience a variety of vehicles for the first time, this event is for all," Recreation Supervisor Maria Warren said. "It's a fun, hands-on opportunity for children to get up-close with the vehicles they see in their everyday lives and learn more about the important roles they play in our community."
Vehicles scheduled to appear include equipment from the Northbrook Park District, Northbrook police and fire departments, Advanced Tree Care, the Village of Northbrook and First Student Bus.
The Park District lineup includes a bobcat, Olympia ice resurfacer, mini excavator, John Deere tractor, rough mower, utility vehicle and pickup/dump truck.
Northbrook police plan to bring two squad cars and a mini car, along with therapy police dog Chloe. The Northbrook Fire Department is scheduled to bring a reserve fire truck.
The Park District will also display its Ford Model T replica with a calliope musical instrument and an antique-style popcorn wagon offering free popcorn.
Kona Ice will be available for purchase.
Adult supervision is required. Organizers recommend bringing cameras and note that the event includes loud noises, horns and sirens.
Touch A Truck will be held rain or shine.
