NORTHBROOK, IL — Five Glenbrook North High School students have been named semifinalists in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced more than 16,000 semifinalists nationwide. They represent less than 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors and are eligible to compete for approximately 6,700 scholarships worth about $24 million.
Students entered the competition through the 2025 PSAT/NMSQT. To become finalists, semifinalists must complete an application, maintain an outstanding academic record, receive a school recommendation, write an essay and earn qualifying SAT or ACT scores.
More than 15,000 semifinalists are expected to advance to finalist standing, with scholarship winners announced beginning in April.
