NORTHBROOK, IL — Northbrook Park District's popular Autumnfest will return Saturday, Oct. 3, at Meadowhill Park with pumpkin chucking, bounce houses, a petting zoo and other fall activities.
The free family event regularly draws hundreds of visitors from Northbrook and surrounding communities, according to the park district.
Activities will be spread throughout Meadowhill Park, inside the Chalet building and at the adjacent Ed Rudolph Velodrome.
This year's event will feature bounce houses, pumpkin chucking, free pumpkins while supplies last, arts and crafts, a horse trolley and a petting zoo.
A DJ will provide music throughout the event, along with a hula hoop contest.
Visitors can also pick up free goody bags with treats and crafts inside the Chalet and enjoy free apple cider. Food will be available for purchase from the Culinary Gangster food truck.
Northbrook Park District Recreation Supervisor Nancy Eschker said two additional bounce houses are being added this year to help reduce lines.
"This is one of my favorite events of the year," Eschker said. "I love seeing all the families come out and enjoying one last 'hurrah' before the cold weather sets in."
Eschker said pumpkin chucking remains her favorite attraction.
"Who doesn't like launching little pumpkin missiles across the Velodrome?" she said.
Northbrook Bank & Trust is the presenting sponsor, with Kidnectivity serving as the bounce house partner.
