• Northbrook Library Collecting Pajamas, Books For Children In Foster Care (patch.com) — Northbrook residents are invited to drop off brand-new children's pajamas and bedtime books at the Northbrook Public Library and other nearby sites to comfort kids in foster care. Partnering with Sen. Julie Morrison's Sweet Dreams Pajama & Book Drive, the effort supports CASA volunteers who advocate for local children as courts decide safe, permanent homes.
• Merry Market Brings Holiday Shopping, Student Support To Northbrook (patch.com) — Northbrook neighbors can get a head start on holiday shopping at Covenant Living of Northbrook's Merry Market, featuring resident-made crafts, food and collectibles. The Nov. 7 event on Techny Road raises money for student employee scholarships and supports local groups like the Northbrook Police and Fire departments, Northbrook Public Library and Northfield Township Food Pantry.
• Northbrook Board holds listening sessions on proposal to raze Meadow Plaza for condos (chicagotribune.com) — Northbrook officials are weighing a proposal to replace Meadow Plaza, a longtime downtown shopping center, with three six-story condo buildings and a riverwalk, and residents are turning out in force to oppose it. After recent listening sessions, the Plan Commission meets Oct. 6 to review the project and make a recommendation that will guide the Village Board's final decision.
