NORTHBROOK, IL — Steak bites, blackened shrimp, frozen custard and more will be on the menu when 21 area restaurants and food businesses gather for Northbrook's annual Taste of the North Shore.
The Northbrook Chamber of Commerce & Industry's 31st Annual Auction & Taste of the North Shore will take place from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Renaissance Chicago North Shore Hotel, 933 Skokie Blvd. The event is open to the public for guests 21 and older, according to the chamber's registration page.
Proceeds will help fund Northbrook Chamber Foundation programs and services that support the business community.
Participating businesses will serve samples from their menus, with offerings expected to include Kona-crusted New York strip steak bites, blackened shrimp, smoked salmon crostini and barbacoa croquettes, according to the chamber's announcement.
Dessert options will include gourmet brownies and cookies, Dubai chocolate mousse and frozen custard sundaes.
Admission includes food samples and complimentary beer, wine and soft drinks. Guests can also enjoy specialty beer tastings and bid on silent auction packages donated by area businesses. A raffle will offer a chance to win $500 and other prizes.
With Halloween two days away, guests are welcome to wear costumes, though dressing up is optional.
Participating restaurants and food businesses include Cabo Mexican Cocina, The Capital Grille, Chicago Marriott Suites Deerfield, City Barbeque, The Claim Company, Culver's of Northbrook, Embassy Suites Deerfield, Francesca's North, Gail's Brownies, The Glen Club, Grill House, Lazy Dog, Maharaj Indian Grill, Max and Benny's, Napolita Pizzeria & Wine Bar, North Shore Bistro, Renaissance Chicago North Shore, Ruth's Chris Steak House, Sarpino's Pizzeria Northbrook, Sunset Foods and Sweet Thing Bake Shop.
Tickets cost $65 per person when purchased by Oct. 27 and $75 at the door. Raffle tickets are sold separately for $30 each, two for $50, or five for $100. Winners need not be present, according to the chamber.
