Antisemitic Graffiti Discovered In Northbrook: Village
The incident follows hate speech messages being displayed on an electronic billboard across the Edens Spur last week.
NORTHBROOK, IL — Just days after hate speech messages were displayed on an electronic billboard across the Edens Spur, the Northbrook Police Department is investigating antisemitic graffiti discovered in the community. While details are sparse as of Monday morning, the Northbrook Village Board has released a statement.
"The Northbrook Village Board unequivocally condemns antisemitism and all acts of hate speech," Northbrook officials said Sunday night. "We stand together with the Jewish community, family members, friends and neighbors. Northbrook is an inclusive community and welcomes all."
A multi-jurisdictional investigation is ongoing following the Wednesday night incident involving hate speech. Jewish United Fund of Chicago said that the organization became aware of the offensive billboard imagery an hour before sundown and reached out to Outfront Media, the company that owns the billboard. According to JUF, the Chicago-based media company believes the billboard had been hacked, and Outfront Media has opened its own investigation.
