Northbrook Arts Commission: Perhaps you saw a painting you’d like to purchase or missed Northbrook’s 3rd Annual Plein Air Festival. JUST ADDED: Stop by the Northbrook Park District Village Green Center, 1810 Walters Avenue, on Friday, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and see nearly 100 unique paintings of Northbrook, Glencoe, Glenview, and Botanic Garden. Check out the one-of-a-kind and award winning paintings created by top Plein Air Artists from across the region on exhibit and for sale.
The Chicago area has become saturated with the typical weekend art fair. Some artists focused on the landmarks familiar to the community, some captured nature, others architecture, and scenes “right under our noses” but previously gone unnoticed.
Northbrook Arts Commission Chairman Bondy points out that “the Plein air movement also represents a returning interest and appreciation of representational art. We’ve seen a tremendous degree of popular interest in Plein air painting (painting outdoors/out of the studio), classical realism, and the urban sketching movements.”
