Aurora Man Stole Currency from Northbrook Residence: Police

Several victims report items stolen from vehicles

The following information was submitted by the Northbrook Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

FELONY THEFT

Cody L. Smith, 29, Aurora was charged with felony theft on December 12 as the result of an investigation into the theft of currency from a residence in the 1200 block of Walters Ave. Smith was transported to Skokie Bond Court and will appear in court on December 24.

ATTEMPTED RETAIL THEFT

Ilona A. Yaschenko, 42, Arlington Heights was charged with retail theft on December 13 after attempting to leave a store in the 100 block of Skokie Hwy. without paying for $74.95 in merchandise. She was issued a local ordinance citation and released at the scene.

BURGLARY TO AUTO

A victim reported on December 13 that she found the trunk of her vehicle standing open on November 23 in the 1700 block of Marcee Ln. and a few days later discovered a tool box valued at $150 missing from the trunk.

THEFT/LOST-MISLAID PROPERTY

A victim reported the theft of items missing from her purse while she left it in the family rest room of the Mall located in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Rd. on December 14. Among the items missing were a black Michael Kors wallet valued at $100, various credit cards, her driver’s license and a silver Pandora Pendent valued at $200.

BURGLARY

A resident of the 1700 block of Tudor reported on December 15 that when she returned home and placed her key in the deadbolt, the tumbler fell on the floor and the door was open. Jewelry and other items were reported missing.

BURGLARY TO VEHICLE

A woman reported on December 17 that she may have left the passenger door to her vehicle unlocked in the 4100 block Lake Cook Rd. and that her black and silver Coach wallet containing $80, a credit card, debit card and Social Security card were stolen.

THEFT

A woman reported on December 18 that offenders removed her white IPhone 4s from the front desk of where she’s employed in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Rd. The locator on the Iphone valued at $199 was placed in another jurisdiction.

THEFT

A woman reported leaving her purse in a shopping cart on December 18 in the 4100 block of Dundee Rd. and when she returned to the store, it had not been turned in to customer service. The purse contained an Illinois driver’s license, social security card, $15, several credit cards a checkbook and a cell phone.
