Mom Delivers Baby On Edens Spur In Northbrook
A pregnant woman driving to the hospital pulled over on the side of the Edens Expressway and gave birth Tuesday.

NORTHBROOK, IL — A woman who delivered a baby on the side of the highway Tuesday morning is in good condition. The pregnant woman was in labor and driving herself to the hospital alone shortly after 1 a.m. when she had to pull over at the Edens Spur Toll Plaza near Pfingsten Road in Northbrook, authorities said.
Toll workers called police and explained a woman was having a baby on the side of the tollway, but by the time paramedics arrived the woman had already given birth, alone in her car. State police received a call that the woman had just delivered the baby and were notified the baby was crying around 1:13 a.m., according to a spokesperson.
Northbrook emergency medical services eventually transported the mother and her new baby, whose sex was not immediately disclosed, to Evanston Women's Hospital, where they were reported to be in good condition, according to police.
