Back To School In Northbrook: Important Dates For 2026-27

NORTHBROOK, IL — Back-to-school season has officially arrived in Northbrook, with high school students returning Thursday and younger students set to follow next week.

Glenbrook High School District 225 begins classes Aug. 13, while Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 and Northbrook School District 28 start Aug. 19. Northbrook School District 27 students return Aug. 20.

Here are some of the important dates for Northbrook families during the 2026-27 school year:

Glenbrook High School District 225

• First Day: Aug. 13, 2026
• Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 25-27, 2026
• Winter Break: Dec. 21, 2026 through Jan. 4, 2027
• Spring Break: March 22-26, 2027
• Last Day: May 24, 2027

District 225's calendar lists Dec. 17 as the final day of the first semester, with students beginning the second semester Jan. 5.

Northbrook/Glenview School District 30

• First Day, Grades 1-8: Aug. 19, 2026
• First Day, Preschool-Kindergarten: Aug. 20, 2026

District 30 has institute days Aug. 17 and 18 before grades 1-8 return Aug. 19. Preschool and kindergarten students begin the following day.

Northbrook School District 27

• First Day: Aug. 20, 2026
• Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 25-27, 2026
• Winter Break: Begins Dec. 21, 2026; school resumes Jan. 4, 2027

• Last Day: May 28, 2027, if no emergency days are used

District 27's calendar includes teacher institute days Aug. 17-19 before students return Aug. 20.

Thanksgiving break is scheduled for Nov. 25-27, while winter break begins Dec. 21. Spring break begins March 22, with students returning March 29.

The calendar lists June 7 as the last possible school day when five emergency days are included, but May 28 is the scheduled final day if none are needed.

Northbrook School District 28
