Bank Bag Stolen From Employee's Car: Cops
A woman is charged with stealing an $80 pair of sunglasses from a Skokie Boulevard store.

The following information is from the Northbrook Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.
BURGLARY TO VEHICLE
The complainant, an employee in the 2800 block of Dundee Road, reported that offenders stole the bank deposit bag from the front passenger seat of the complainant’s unlocked vehicle while it was parked at the business. The deposit bag, along with the complainant’s purse, was hidden by the complainant under some clothing on the seat. The theft was discovered when the complainant arrived at the bank to deposit the money. Officers checked the parking lot and immediate area attempting to locate the missing deposit bag without success.

THEFT
A victim reported that offenders stole $30 from his wallet that was in a locker in a locker room in the 2100 block of Founders Dr. sometime from 9:10-10:55 p.m. on July 23.Another victim reported that offenders stole $60-$80 from his wallet that was locked in the locker room that night after 11 p.m.

BURGLARY
Officers responded to the burglar alarm at a residence in the 4300 block of Exeter at 9:51 a.m. on July 24 and found an unsecured door. The officers located pry marks on the front door near the locking mechanism. When the homeowner arrived home he reported that it appeared that some items had been moved in the residence but that nothing initially had been stolen.
RETAIL THEFT
Ruslan Furman, 41, Vernon Hills was charged with retail theft at 4:47 p.m. on July 24 in the 1-100 block of Skokie Highway. Several officers responded to a report of retail theft that had just occurred. The offender was reportedly running on foot through the parking lot attempting to flee. Officers located the offender in a vehicle in which he was a passenger. Store employees positively identified the offender and he was taken into custody. The total amount of merchandise that was taken was $326.56 which was recovered by officers. The defendant was processed and placed in a cell awaiting transport to bond court.
ATTEMPT TO ACQUIRE CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE
Demetrius Unger, 22, Chicago was arrested for attempted acquisition of a controlled substance at 9:48 a.m. on July 26 in the 1000 block of Waukegan Road. The pharmacist received a call from a person requesting to pick up medication that had been ordered by phone. The pharmacist after checking the prescription order contacted the physician on the order to verify the prescription. The physician informed the pharmacist that the medication had not been prescribed by him and that he did not have a patient by that name. When a person came into the pharmacy to pick up the prescription the police were contacted and the defendant was subsequently taken into custody.
DRIVING WHILE SUSPENDED
Timothy P. Krigers, 46, 2106 Cargill was stopped at Cedar Lane and Oak Street at 8:46 a.m. on July 27 and charged with uninsured motor vehicle, expired registration, driving while suspended and failure to signal.
DRIVING WHILE SUSPENDED
Patrick Watts, 43, Chicago was stopped in the 700 block of Landwehr Rd. at 12:21 p.m. on July 29 and charged with suspended registration-mandatory insurance. Officers stopped the defendant’s vehicle for expired registration. Officers later learned that both the vehicle registration and the defendant’s Illinois driver’s license were suspended by the Secretary of State’s office.
RETAIL THEFT
Ivonne Leyva, 20, Chicago was arrested for retail theft at 1:52 p.m. on July 30 in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard. The complainant, a loss prevention agent for the store, reported the defendant removed two pair of sunglasses from a display counter. She concealed one pair in her purse and paid for one pair at the register. The defendant was stopped by the complainant after exiting the store. The second pair was recovered from her purse. The value of the sunglasses was $79.99. The defendant was issued a local ordinance citation at the scene and was released.
