Bedroom Ransacked on Sunnyside Circle: Cops

A man walked out of a Skokie Boulevard store with an "armload" of clothing. Tires slashed at Shermer Road parking lot.

The following information is from the Northbrook Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

RECOVERED STOLEN AUTO

An employee of a building in the 1100 block of Skokie Blvd. reported on Nov. 30 at 9:29 a.m. that there was a black Ford 500 sedan parked in their lot for several weeks. Officers responded and learned that the vehicle was reported stolen by the Highland Park Police Department in September.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

An employee of a business in the 300 block of Pfingsten Rd. contacted police to report discovering the outside Christmas lights had been cut and damaged at 8:55 a.m. on Nov. 30. The damage was estimated at $100.

RETAIL THEFT

A customer in a store in the 100 block of Skokie Blvd. reported observing a stocky male wearing a blue jacket run out of the store with an armload of clothing at 12:55 p.m. on Nov. 30. The offender entered a blue Dodge which was parked in the lot driven by a female with a dark pony tail. The offenders in the vehicle exited the parking lot northbound onto Skokie Blvd. The store personnel will determine later what merchandise was stolen.

BURGLARY

A victim in the 900 block of Hillside reported that she returned home on Dec. 1 to find the house had been burglarized. The homeowner reported that they had left their residence for an hour and a half to run errands. The homeowner discovered the offenders had searched many of the rooms in the residence. Officers could not locate any force to the residence’s doors. It is possible that the homeowners failed to lock one of the rear doors to the house. A complete list of property stolen will be supplied later by the victim.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

Officers responded to a reported residential burglary which occurred in the 1700 block of Sunnyside Circle between 5:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. on Dec. 2. The homeowner returned home and discovered the bedroom ransacked. It appears that an offender entered the residence by breaking a first floor window. At the time of the report the homeowner believes that four watches were stolen.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE

A victim related that he parked his vehicle in the Shermer Road parking lot in the 1400 block on Dec. 2 at 11 p.m. When he returned to his vehicle the next day he discovered that all four tires on his 2010 Toyota were slashed. The estimated damage is $800.
