Christian Heritage Academy

Christian Heritage Academy (CHA) invites the North Shore community to celebrate a historic&nbsp;milestone at the upcoming groundbreaking ceremony for its brand-new Activity Center. The official first turn of the soil will take place&nbsp;on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 10:00-10:30 AM on the school’s campus at 315 Waukegan Road, Northfield, IL. The brief ceremony and prayer of dedication will bring together students, families, faculty, alumni, and friends to mark a major step&nbsp;forward for the school community. The groundbreaking comes in conjunction with CHA’s "Train Up" Capital Campaign, which reached&nbsp;a major milestone of $9.6 million (80% of its $12 million goal) on June 1, 2026. Initial construction preparation will begin on site this&nbsp;fall, with construction beginning in earnest in the spring of 2027. The community celebration begins earlier in the morning with the <a href="https://runsignup.com/Race/IL/Northfield/TrainUp5KAndFunRun" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Train Up 5K and Fun Run</a>, open to third graders through adults,&nbsp;kicking off at 8:00 AM. This family-friendly event features a 5K race, a 1-Mile Fun Run, and two dashes for younger children (a 50-yard&nbsp;and a quarter-mile dash). Attendees can also explore a sponsor and activity village. Donuts, coffee, cider, and hot chocolate will be&nbsp;available for sale before the 10:00 AM groundbreaking. The three-year, $12 million Train Up Campaign eliminates the school’s current debt, covers the annual Lion Fund, and provides new&nbsp;space for student physical education and athletics. Strategically placed at the center of campus, the new facility will feature&nbsp;telescopic seating and a retractable divider, creating a versatile space capable of hosting two full-court basketball games or four&nbsp;tournament-style volleyball games simultaneously. All neighbors, civic leaders, and local families are welcome to attend both the races and the groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate&nbsp;this exciting new chapter. Chicago Marriott Schaumburg

From October 16-17, 2026 - The Chicago Marriott Schaumburg Hotel will host an extensive display of miniature sculptures, a vendor area, auction, and educational “how to” sessions presented by The Military Miniature Society of Illinois at their 50th annual show. 
This visually stunning event attracts hundreds of people of all ages from all over the USA and internationally who are interested in viewing and creating miniature artwork like the many pieces that will be on display. Consider sharing this event with the public through your medium. Feel free to contact our press office if you have any questions or would like to see the event first hand. We would be very happy to make those arrangements during our set up night or the day of the show or meet with some of our artists beforehand. Now more about the show… 
The non-profit MMSI’s annual event at the Chicago Marriott Schaumburg Hotel (50 Martingale Road in Schaumburg, Illinois 60173), will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday October 17 (and also 3-8 p.m. on Friday October 16). Adult admission is $10 per person, and is free for children under 12 or active military providing proper identification. 
Considered as one of the top-level exhibitions of painted miniature sculptures in the world, visitors will see many examples of this broad and diverse art form of realistic sculpted and painted miniatures which range in size from under one inch to over twelve inches high. The artists’ work represents a wide range of historical periods from ancient to modern times and includes military, sports, science fiction, movies, fantasy and other subjects. Those submitting their work for competition will be ranging from youngsters and adult amateur hobbyists through world renowned professional artists whose work may be painted from commercially available kits, conversions, or original sculptures.
