Check Northbrook Garden Do's and Don'ts before Heading to the Store
Guidelines set out for front yard flowers and veggies.

If you still haven't gotten into summer front yard gardening or are thinking of changing your layout, better check with the village first.
While Northbrook encourages folks to be sustainable, residents need to remember that the garden will be in view of neighbors and the public.
Here are some things to keep in mind:

- All gardens must be properly maintained so as not to become a public nuisance.
- In particular, gardens must not cause problems (mud, water, icing, etc.) for nearby public sidewalks.
- The guidelines are applicable to all types of gardens, not just vegetable gardens.
- All gardens must comply with the existing standards in Sec. 19-57 of the Northbrook Municipal Code that prohibit any change in existing grade that would create drainage or erosion problems.
