Chicago Children's Museum Opens Playspace At Northbrook Court
The grand opening of Northbrook Play, a nature-inspired, 4,000-square-foot indoor playground, is set for Saturday.
From Chicago Children's Museum: Chicago Children’s Museum’s (CCM) latest museum-quality play space will debut for visitors of Northbrook Court this fall. The nature-inspired play area will feature interactive stations for children of all ages to play, imagine, invent, and explore—the hallmark of CCM’s original experiences where play and learning connect.
Brookfield Properties, the owners and operators of Northbrook Court, commissioned Chicago Children’s Museum to create Northbrook Play, an authentic and intentionally-designed space that inspires memorable, imaginative, and active play for the whole family. The 4,000 sq. ft. family space will feature various activity zones including a parent lounge, a terrain area for active play, a stage and puppet theater for imaginative play, and hideouts for reading and relaxation. Consistent with CCM’s exhibit philosophy, children can use a variety of loose props and costumes to create a new experience each time they visit.
“Our child development experts and educators research and develop each original experience to ensure it is just right for young learners to play in for hours and revisit for years,” said CCM President and CEO Jennifer Farrington.

Chicago Children’s Museum’s time-tested exhibit development process results in engaging, developmentally-appropriate exhibits for children under 10, with a focus on play. CCM’s exhibits enable children to develop strengths in all domains including cognitive, social-emotional, language, and physical. “At Northbrook Play, children are invited to take the lead and engage in the world in a manner that supports their development by applying the universal language of childhood,” said Jennifer Farrington. “We are thrilled to partner with Brookfield Properties to provide a museum-quality play space for Northbrook Court’s youngest visitors.”
