Chicago Executive Airport Run the Runway Event Draws a Big Crowd

Run the Runway brings people in the community together for a fun summer day.

On Saturday, June 30th, over 200 runners and walkers came out for the fifth annual, Run the Runway event, at the Chicago Executive Airport in Prospect Heights and Wheeling, Illinois. On hand to kick off the festivities for the event were the Governor of Illinois, Bruce Rauner and State Representative, Brad Schneider. While the majority of the airports around the country prohibit recreational use due to safety concerns, every year, residents from the surrounding suburbs are given an invitation to explore the runways at Chicago Executive Airport. Then later in the evening, the airport is transformed into a musical and firework extravaganza.

Chicago Executive Pilot’s Association President, Madeleine Monaco, said, “this is always a fun event and our pilot’s association likes to support the airport and the community. We feel we are an important partner in making aviation safe, enjoyable, and more accessible.”

The Chicago Executive Pilot’s Association serves the local needs of the pilots and the community by providing safety courses and guidance on aviation related needs in the local community. For more information about the Chicago Executive Pilots Association visit www.pwkpilots.org
