JJB Educational Consulting was born 17 year ago. I started my business because I wanted to help my son, who has learning differences, find the best college fit. There was no central place disseminating information about what schools provided appropriate disability support allowing students to be successful. Too many students who are capable of obtaining a college degree don’t because they are not adequately supported.
Our job is to find appropriate college and post-secondary placements for students with learning differences including; ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, chronic health or mild mental health issues. We help with all phases of the college process from identifying appropriate schools, to helping students write essays and manage application deadlines. We are very hands-on with our clients.
We are the only educational consultants that specialize solely in college and post-secondary placements for students with learning differences. I am proud to say that we have 100% success placing students with learning differences in colleges. Our 2017 seniors have received over $1,000,000 in scholarships this year!
Many years ago I received a Master’s Degree in Special Education. I worked at Roosevelt University tutoring students with learning differences and learned about higher education. The numbers of students with learning issues being successful was increasing as colleges were providing excellent support services to this population. As my son was ready to attend college, I did extensive research about which colleges provide what services and as a result, the business was born. I am proud to say my son now works with me!
I moved to Northbrook a year and a half ago. This summer I bought a house and am now a permanent resident! I love it here, everyone is very friendly. I grew up in Skokie and Winnetka, attended New Trier High School and then Indiana University for my undergraduate degree. I have two grown children, both with learning issues. My son is 32 and works with me. My daughter is 35 and just moved back here from Las Vegas. I was a music major at Indiana University and love almost all music. I adore classical music and also love Broadway shows and popular music. I enjoy sports; my two favorite teams are the Cub and Blackhawks, but I also watch the Bulls and Bears. I like to be active, my two labs and I take long walks. I took a Mah Jong class in Northbrook last year and am addicted! I like to read as well as do crossword puzzles
