Compressor Stolen From Company Van: Cops

Counterfeit $100 bill used on Dundee Road

The following information is from the Northbrook Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

THEFT

A victim in the 100 block of Skokie Highway discovered that her wallet was missing while she shopped at the store at 2:10 p.m. on May 23. She contacted her credit card companies and found that charges were made on the card that she did not authorize.

SUSPENDED DRIVER’S LICENSE

Ariel B. Almaguer, 23, Chicago was stopped at Dundee and Shermer roads at 11:47 p.m. on May 22 and charged with driving while license suspended. Officers stopped the defendant’s vehicle for a traffic violation.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

A victim in the 1800 block of Trails Edge reported at 4:12 p.m. on May 25 that an offender forced open the service door leading into the garage. An interior door leading into the residence was closed when the victim open the garage door as he returned home. A sliding door in the back of the residence was also found slightly ajar. According to the victim it did not appear that the offender gained access to the residence.

BURGLARY TO VEHICLE

A complainant in the 3400 block of Commercial Ave. reported that offenders entered a company van and stole a compressor valued of $550 sometime between May 22 and 26.

COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY

The complainant, a store manager in the 2700 block of Dundee Rd. reported that an employee accepted a counterfeit $100 bill at 1:58 p.m. on May 25. The employee reported that a customer made a $20 transaction and was given $80 in change.

THEFT

A victim reported that $120 was stolen from her locker while she was attending a physical education class on May 26 in the 2300 block of Shermer Rd.

SUSPENDED DRIVER’S LICENSE

Andy R. Vazuez, 20, Highland Park was stopped at Dundee Road and Oakleaf at 10:49 p.m. on May 26 and charged with having a suspended driver’s license and no tail lights.

THEFT

Tihana Sabanovic, 43, Lincolnwood was charged with retail theft at 1:21 p.m. on May 28 in the 1400 block of Lake Cook Rd. The defendant, an employee of the store, was observed transacting fraudulent voided returns. She was observed ringing up several items of merchandise removing the security sensors then conducting a transaction as if they had been returned. Later in the day she was observed leaving the store with the items of merchandise not having paid for them.
