Congregation Beth Shalom Stands With Tree of Life Congregation

Community Stands as One

On Sunday evening, October 29, nearly 450 Beth Shalom members and members of the surrounding communities, joined together in solidarity with the clergy of Congregation Beth Shalom as well as spiritual leaders from other Jewish and non-Jewish houses of worship. Cantor Steve Stoehr, the Cantor of Beth Shalom for over 30 years, is a native of Pittsburgh and personally knew three of the deceased. Clergy and spiritual leaders read prayers, spoke from their hearts, sang and read the names of the victims of the shootings. All of the leaders had the same basic message - love shall win over hatred and civility over mayhem. The vigil was held to let people know that they are not alone, that the majority of the world is still safe and good and to send a message to universal love to Pittsburgh and let them know that our lives have been fractured by their loss.
