Cop Helps With Flat Tire, Finds DUI Driver: Northbrook Crime Reports

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and a list of those arrested. Criminal charges are often dropped or reduced and represent merely accusations by the state. An arrest is not an indicator of guilt, and all persons named are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

On Oct. 9 at 11:05 a.m., police were told two licence plate registration stickers were believed to have been stolen from a car dealership on the 1500 block of Skokie Boulevard.

On Oct. 9 at 1:45 p.m., a patron at an ice cream shop in the 1300 block of Shermer Road told police someone had stolen a purse off the back of their chair.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Jonah C. Levinson, 21, of the 1000 block of Central Avenue, Wilmette, was charged with shoplifting from the Mariano's in the 700 block of Skokie Boulevard at 1:25 p.m. on Oct. 5 after police were told he was seen putting several items into a shopping cart and taking them out of the store.
Nicholas Poulos, 48, of the 1400 block of Norwell Lane, Schaumburg, was arrested Oct. 7 and charged with driving under the influence on Oct. 7 at 12:53 a.m. after an officer heard a crashing sound near the 1400 block of Shermer Road while on patrol. The cop found a one-car crash involving Poulos, who the officer determined was intoxicated.
A 47-year-old Chicago man was arrested on Oct. 8 at 2 a.m. near the intersection of Dundee Road and Oakleaf Terrace after he was pulled over for speeding and determined to be driving on a suspended license.
Thomas B. Zajicek, 49, of the 2800 block of White Pine Drive was arrested at 3:03 a.m. on Oct. 8 near the intersection of Willow Road and Lexington Lane and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08 after police noticed his vehicle violate a traffic law. He was pulled over, police determined he was drunk and also issued him a citation for improper lane usage.
German Meneses, 24, of the 700 block of Court of Birch in Vernon Hills, was arrested on Oct. 8 at 8:16 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence. An officer on patrol noticed him commit a traffic offense – depositing material on highway and improper lane usage – pulled him over and determined he was intoxicated.
Patrick D. Mihm, 34, of the 2100 block of Scott Road, was arrested Oct. 11 at 8:50 p.m. and charged with drunk driving in the 2300 block of Shermer Road. Police noticed an apparently speeding car, pulled it over and found Mihm to be intoxicated. He was charged with DUI with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08 and issued a speeding ticket.
Alexander J. Smith, 22, of the 700 block of Bluff Street in Carol Stream, was arrested Oct. 12 at 4:56 a.m. and charged with drunk driving in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard. An officer on patrol noticed a car with a flat tire, and while police were assisting the man, they determined he was drunk. Smith was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08.
