Cops: Cashiers Caught Skimming From Macy's Registers In Northbrook

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of police activity. An arrest is not an indication of guilt. Criminal charges represent merely and accusation by the state and all defendants are presumed innocent unless their guilt is established beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
Michaelangel Ibarra, 27, of the 1900 block of Dundee Road was charged with disorderly conduct on April 28. A caller notified police that Ibarra was walking around in their back yard. When asked what he was doing, Ibarra allegedly responded incoherently. When police arrived, they located him in a rear yard of a residence in the 1900 block of Big Oak. Ibarra was placed under arrest, processed and released after he posting bond.

THEFT FROM MACY'S REGISTERS
Jasmine Bruce, 26, of the 200 block of Calhoun in Calumet City was arrested April 28 at 1 p.m. and charged with felony theft. She was accused of stealing $2,800 from cash registers from the Macy's location at Northbrook Court on Lake Cook Road. A security guard reported that the store had noticed cash shortages at certain registers during the past two months. After reviewing the tape and conducting an investigation, they saw Bruce, a Macy's employee, caught on video taking cash out of the registers.

FELONY iPHONE THEFT
Christian J. Estrella, 34, of the 6900 block of Integra Cove Boulevard in Orlando, Florida was arrested May 1 shortly after 6:30 p.m. and charged with felony theft after Northbrook police got a call from the Apple Store at Northbrook Court. An employee told police Estrella had fraudulently bought two Apple iPhone 7s valued at $1838. Estrella provoked the Apple Store staffer's suspicious when he had to refer to his cell phone to look up the social security number he provided employees. After calling police, store employees told Estrella they needed to continue finalizing his transcation and officers showed up as he was leaving the store and placed him under arrest. The Florida man was charged with felony theft.

Rose C. Lavina, 26, of the 2600 block of Sunset Trail in Riverwoods was charged with DUI and illegal transportation of alcohol after being pulled over around 12:06 a.m. on May 3. Northbrook police on patrol said her vehicle committed several traffic violations and pulled it over around Sanders Road and Picardy Lane. While speaking with the driver, Lavina, police decided she was under the influence. They placed her under arrest, processed and released her after bond was posted.
