Counterfeit Cash Moving Around Town: Cops
Explosives were seized from a Northbrook man during a traffic stop.

ILLEGAL FIREWORKS
Dean-Phillip Rust, 30, 1939 Koehling Rd. was stopped at Western Ave. and Peachtree Lane at 8:21 p.m. on Jan. 21 and charged with possession of fireworks and illegal registration. Officers stopped the defendant’s vehicle after observing that it had expired registration. The officer observed a bucket containing 24 mortar style explosive fireworks inside the vehicle.

REVOKED DRIVER’S LICENSE
Mizael Olea, 25, Waukegan was stopped at Sanders Rd. and Takeda at 8:51 p.m. on Jan. 22 and charged with driving on a revoked license and use of electronic communication device while driving.

COUNTERFEIT MONEY
An attendant at a gas station in the 800 block of Waukegan Rd. at 9:26 p.m. on Jan. 22 reported that a man came into the station and used a $100 bill for purchase of $20 in gasoline. Based on the serial number and quality of the paper, the bill was determined to be counterfeit. The offender left in a grey 4 door sedan with tinted windows onto Dundee Rd.
Two other incidents of fake $100 bills being circulated were reported this week.
SUSPENDED DRIVER’S LICENSE
Jimmy D. Pitts, 50, Waukegan was stopped at Dundee and Landwehr roads at 1:22 a.m. on Jan. 23 and was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license and improper lane usage. Officers stopped the defendant for a traffic violation.
BURGLARY
A victim in the 1700 block of Seton Rd. reported on Jan. 23 that they left their residence at 5 p.m. and returned home at 8 p.m. to discover their residence had been burglarized. Officers responded and checked the residence’s interior. According to the victim nothing appeared to be missing. The responding officers could not locate any damage to the sliding patio door or the front door both of which were found open by the homeowners when they returned.

Silvia Garcia, 45, Chicago was stopped at Willow Rd. and Interstate 294 at 12:49 a.m., on Jan. 24 and was charged with driving with a license suspended and failure to signal. Officers stopped the defendant’s vehicle for a traffic violation.
SUSPENDED DRIVER’S LICENSE
Kevin M. Gordon, 49, 2908 Manor was stopped at Dundee Rd. and Fair Ln. at 10:15 a.m. on Jan. 25 and was cited for driving while license suspended and speeding. Officers stopped the defendant for a traffic violation.
RETAIL THEFT
Shari L. Watts, 50, Chicago was arrested for retail theft at 3:46 p.m. on Jan. 26 in the 800 block of Willow Rd. The loss prevention agent for the store observed the defendant place several items in her purse and shopping bag. At the register the defendant paid for the items that were in her shopping cart but not the items in her purse. The defendant left the store failing to pay for $116.91 in merchandise.

Richard A. Wadr, 41, Chicago was stopped at Dundee and Sanders roads at 12:47 a.m. on Jan. 28 and charged with driving while suspended and having no insurance. Officers stopped the defendant’s vehicle for a traffic violation.
