Crews Battle House Fire At Construction Site In Northbrook: Chief

The Friday morning fire occurred in the 2300 block of Walters Avenue, which was partially closed for a time, according to police.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Firefighters were battling a house fire Friday morning at a home under construction in Northbrook. The fire started at around 7 a.m.

Northbrook Fire Chief David Schweihs tells Patch the fire in the 2300 block of Walters Avenue was "quickly contained" to a room and attic of the attached garage.

"The fire did not extend into the house," Schweihs said. "There were no civilian or fire department personnel injuries."

Glenview and Deerfield fire companies assisted at the scene. Schweihs said a Northbrook fire investigator is at the location to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

In a social media post, the Northbrook Police Department said Walters Avenue was closed for a time between Western Avenue and Briarwood Lane. Police were asking residents to avoid the area and find an alternate route. Police said the road reopened at around 8:10 a.m.
