NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

WARRANT

Edwin I. Gomez Garcia, of the 2700 block of W. Grove Avenue, Waukegan, had a warrant out of DuPage County for driving with a license suspended - bond forfeiture, and was arrested at 4:56 p.m. April 28, in the 30 block of Skokie Boulevard. Police found an abandoned vehicle in the parking lot with front-end damage. They then discovered the owner was Gomez Garcia. Bond was set at $3,000. His custody was transferred over to the DuPage County Sheriff's Office.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Jose L. Salcedo, of the 8200 block of W. Dempster, Niles, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, stopping a vehicle in the roadway, driving below the minimum speed limit, illegal transportation of open alcohol, and was arrested at 12:29 a.m. May 1, at Willow and Pfingsten roads. Police found a vehicle stopped at a green light and saw Salcedo sleeping behind the wheel. He was released after posting a $1,000 bond and was assigned a court date of May 16.

FRAUD

Ennis Gomez, of Miami, Florida, is accused of felony unlawful use of a credit card, and was arrested at 6:53 p.m. May 2, at Phillips Gas Station, 2300 block of Waukegan Road. Police said Gomez used a fraudulent credit card to pay for gas. The receipts provided did not match the debit card numbers that Gomez had in his possession, according to police. He was taken to bond court.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

Robert Mauer, of the 700 block of Broadview Avenue, Highland Park, is accused of two counts of criminal damage to property ($500-$1,000) from an incident on Oct. 9, 2021, and was arrested after turning himself in at 6:06 p.m. May 2, in the 1300 block of Shermer Road. THEFT

  • A Russett Lane resident reported at 7:03 p.m. April 29, that he wired a computer malware help company a large amount of money and then discovered it to be a scam.
  • A Lake Placid Lane called police at 6:15 p.m. April 20, to report she purchased a gift card for a possible new client and provided her with the gift card information. She determined it to be a scam.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE

A person in the 2000 block of Shermer Road called police at 10:34 p.m. April 29, to report someone caused damage to her vehicle.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE

  • A person in the 900 block of Skokie Boulevard reported that between 9:30 a.m. and 12:05 p.m. April 30, someone removed the catalytic converters from their vehicles.
  • A person in the 2000 block of Dundee Road called police to report that between 7:30 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. April 30, someone removed the catalytic converter from their vehicle.
  • A person in the 2100 block of Foxglove Drive reported at 8:19 a.m. May 5, someone removed the catalytic converters from two buses. The offenders left behind a Sawzall blade.

BURGLARY

A resident in the 2000 block of Valencia Drive reported that between April 17 and May 1, someone removed a gaming console from the residence.

BURGLARY TO VEHICLE

A person in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard called police at 8:49 p.m. May 1 to report someone entered and removed several items from his vehicle.

FLEE OR ELUDE

Offivers saw two ATVs traveling at a high rate of speed at 3:21 a.m. May 2, at Dundee and Landwehr roads. The drivers of the ATVs failed to stop for officers and began traveling on the Edens, where they were no longer able to be located.

DOG BITE

A person in the 4100 block of Pamela Lane reported that while walking at 6:25 p.m. May 4, a 70-pound black Rottweiler jumped on her and bit her in the right arm. Complainant was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The dog’s owners were cited.
