Early Childhood Fun Fair Planned For April In Northbrook

NORTHBROOK, IL — If you're looking for some exciting activities in the area for your young child, make sure to check out the Northbrook Park District's Early Childhood Fun Fair. The event, planned for 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. April 6, will be held at the Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Ave.

The event is free and no registration is required.

According to the district, the fair is designed to give children, parents and caregivers an informative look at the district's preschool, along with enrichment and early childhood programs for children up to 5 years old. Entertainment, raffles and early childhood activities are all on the schedule for the two-hour affair.

"We are so excited to showcase our preschool and early childhood program offerings for the community at our Early Childhood Fun Fair," said Erin Sweet, NPD superintendent of arts and recreation. "Whether your child is new to our programs, currently enrolled or thinking of returning, this is a great opportunity to learn about what is new and upcoming at the park district."

NPD said families will have a chance to experience the center's educational environment by exploring the facility, and meeting the "dedicated" team of teachers and staff members. Staff will engage children in age-appropriate games and activities, so the adults have a chance to learn about which program offerings might best suit their child.

Programs through the district include art, nature, tumbling, dance, theatre, cooking, STEM and sports classes.

Early childhood classes start in June and July include "I Can Play Two," for 2-year-olds to develop social skills while engaged in playful activities, and "Kindermusik Foundations" for ages 0 to 6, where children and grownups can enjoy singing, dancing and bonding.

Preschool enrollment is currently open for Sunshine Preschool, the popular park district preschool program for 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds.
