Election Filing Deadline Passes: Northbrook Residents Run
Two local residents submitted their intent to run by Monday's deadline, according to the Illinois State Board of Elections.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The primary election in Illinois is just over three months away, and there will be some local options at the ballot box. The deadline for candidates to file for their intent to run with the Illinois State Board of Elections was Monday. Illinois' primary election is June 28.
Illinois 9th Congressional District
Maxwell "Max" Rice, of Northbrook, is running on the Republican side. He will face John Ellerson, of Arlington Heights, in the primary. On the Democratic side, incumbent Jan Schakowsky, of Evanston, will face a primary challenge from Andrew Heldut, of Chicago. Schakowsky has held the position since 2012.

Illinois House of Representatives District 57
Democratic Jonathan Carroll, of Northbrook, is running unopposed in the primary. He will face Republican Rory Welch, of Northfield, in the general election. Carroll has held the seat since 2018.
