In this four-week class, we will explore the essential elements of the essay by discussing published work. We’ll focus on pieces that highlight voice, storyline, memory andmetaphor, and closely examine craft and language to practice reading as a writer. Weekly prompts will be offered to get you writing on your own, but this workshop is designed as an introduction to the essay and not as a writing workshop.
