Northbrook Chamber to Host Program on Electrical Aggregation Referendum

Northbrook, IL. – Feb. 21, 2012 – The Northbrook Chamber of Commerce will host an informative program on Wednesday, March 7th to help Northbrook residents and small business owners learn more about the electrical aggregation referendum that will be voted on in the March primary.  The information session will be held at the Chamber office, 2002 Walters Avenue from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

In December, the Northbrook Village Trustees approved a resolution to place a question on the March 20th election ballot asking voters if the Village should be given the authority to bid collectively with 7 other communities for the purchase of electricity.  All Northbrook residents and small commercial retail customers who have a peak usage of 100kW or less would be included in the bidding process.

The Chamber, which supports the referendum, is offering the program to help attendees understand why the referendum is needed.  Other topics to be addressed include the process for electrical aggregation, the timetable for the bidding process, how an average electric bill would be affected, and how to “opt out” of the program.  There will be plenty of time for questions and answers.
