NORTHBROOK, IL —The Westcott School PTO found a sweet way to raise money for the school's new playground. On February 12, renowned pastry chef Gale Gand conducted a virtual "Chocolate 101" dessert-making class via Zoom. PTO members, residents, teachers and school administrators paid to watch and participate in their own kitchens.

During the event, Gand demonstrated how to make chocolate bouchons with white chocolate ganache and curls, a dash of powdered sugar and fresh raspberries. The award-winning chef, cookbook author and television personality, also talked about the history of chocolate, which she said was discovered in 1500 BC., and how it is grown, harvested and made into bars.

"Thank you to the Wescott PTO and Chef Gale Gand for your support of Wescott," Dr. Chris Brown, Wescott school principal said in a release. "The chocolate bouchons we made tonight were delicious!"
