Rescue and fire crews contained a hazardous materials leak Monday night at a Northbrook factory, the Chicago Tribune reports.
None of the 25 employees at Ramcel Engineering Co., 2926 MacArthur Blvd., were hurt when dichloromethane, a degreasing compound that can irritate the skin and eyes if inhaled in high concentrations, leaked from a machine at the factory, the report stated. The building was evacuated when the leak was discovered, and the Northbrook Fire Department was called at about 6:45 p.m., according to the Tribune.
Northbrook firefighters—along with crews from Deerfield, Glenview, Lincolnshire and Wheeling—contained the leak at around 8 p.m., the report added.
