Firefighters Trained for Ice Rescues at UL Property
A divemaster helped simulate live scenarios this week.

NORTHBROOK, IL - Firefighters in Northbrook this week received surface and ice rescue training at the Underwriters Laboratories property in order to help them safely conduct a water rescue on unstable ice.
According to a village memo, the hands-on training - provided by Divemaster Bob Gangloff - involved live scenarios in which rescuers needed to “adapt to falling ice surfaces and facilitate proficiency with safety procedures, ice rescue equipment, communication and panic-control techniques.”
