Gamer Scammed Of $35K On Digital Platform: Northbrook Police Blotter
The gamer said he tried corresponding with the two online users, only known by their usernames, but he was blocked from all communications.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
SUSPENDED/REVOKED LICENSE
Jorge Medina Orozco, of Chicago, is accused of improper lane usage, having a defective rear tailgate, driving while license suspended, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 1:09 a.m. March 22, at Edens Expressway and Dundee Road. A court date of April 30 was assigned.

NO VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE
Felix P. Efren, of Wheeling, is accused of having a suspended registration, no valid driver's license, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 11:06 p.m. March 27, at Willow and Pfingsten roads. A court date of May 5 was assigned.

INCIDENTS
FRAUD/EMAIL SCAM
The office manager of a business in the 1200 block of Shermer Road reported on March 24 that in January, they received an email from an employee wanting to change their bank where their direct deposit was put into. After several weeks, that real employee inquired why they hadn’t received any pay. The email was found to be fraudulent and the employee never asked for the change. The total loss was $210.
DIGITAL THEFT
A Torrey Pines Parkway resident called police at 6:43 p.m. March 26, to report he had an account with a digital platform to play online games. His account had $35,000 of gaming money to purchase upgrades and games within the platform. After being invited to play a specific game by the two organizers, he agreed and waited to be allowed in the digital platform. When he was blocked, he checked his account, and all his gaming money was deleted from his account. He tried corresponding with the two online users, only known by their usernames, but he was blocked from all communications.
FLEEING AND ELUDING
Police saw a gray Chevrolet at 8:17 a.m. March 27, with expired and suspended license plates at Dundee and Waukegan roads. The registration also came back to a different vehicle. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled from the officer eastbound on Dundee Road. A few minutes later, the officer saw the same vehicle and driver heading westbound on Lake Cook Road. The officer tried stopping the vehicle once again. The driver fled southbound on the tollway.
IDENTITY THEFT
A Kayjay Drive resident reported at 4:56 p.m. March 27, someone had attempted to use her information to get a line of credit at a furniture store in Springfield. The complainant had identity theft protection in place, and they stopped the fraudulent activity before the purchase was made. After the protection service contacted the complainant, she was able to call the furniture store and explain the crime. The person had already left the store and fled the area
