Gas Customer Confronts Would-Be Car Thief: Northbrook Police Blotter
A Milwaukee man approached the victim and entered his vehicle while he was pumping gas.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
BURGLARY TO VEHICLE
Fercardo Graffree, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is accused of burglary to motor vehicle (Class 3 felony), criminal trespass to a vehicle, and was arrested at 9:09 p.m. May 27, in the 3100 block of Dundee Road. Officers responded to the area after a person said someone had entered their vehicle and attempted to drive away. Graffree approached the victim and entered his vehicle while he was pumping gas. He then unsuccessfully attempted to start the vehicle and was confronted by the victim. Graffree fled the area on foot, where he was located and taken into custody by officers. He was taken to bond court and was assigned a future court date of June 23.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
Demetra Liakos, of the 0-20 block of Parkway North Boulevard, Deerfield, is accused of illegal stopping (parked on roadway), driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, and was arrested at 12:39 a.m. May 30, in the 700 block of Anthony Trail. Officers responded to a report of a vehicle swerving and driving off the roadway. Officers found the car parked in the middle of the roadway. Liakos was released after posting $1,000 bond and was assigned a court date of July 15.

- A resident in the 1800 block of Heather Lane reported at 5:33 p.m. May 27, a person was soliciting for a pest service without a permit. Officers spoke to the person and advised of the ordinance, to which he acknowledged and departed without incident.
- A person in the 800 block of Willow Road called police at 1:59 p.m. June 1, two people were soliciting for money on private property. Officers advised them of the village ordinance, and they departed without incident.
ORDINANCE VIOLATION
A person in the 1700 block of Techny Road reported at 5:37 p.m. May 27, someone was smoking a cigarette in violation of the no smoking signs. Officers located the smoker and issued her a local ordinance ticket
THEFT FROM VEHICLE
- A person in the 900 block of Skokie Boulevard called police at 9:35 a.m. May 29, someone removed the catalytic converter from her vehicle.
- A person in the 300 block of Skokie Boulevard reported at 8:38 p.m. May 31, someone removed the catalytic converter and tools from his vehicle.
THEFT
- A person in the 800 block of Willow Road called police at 2:35 p.m. May 29, to report someone removed her wallet from her purse and used her credit cards to make several purchases.
- A person in the 3000 block of Commercial Road reported at 1:22 p.m. May 31, someone removed shelving units from the side of his building.
- An employee of a business in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard called police at 2:40 p.m. June 1, to report two subjects perpetrated a quick change scam while purchasing $4,003.65 in clothing items, with subjects only paying approximately $1,500 for the merchandise.
RETAIL THEFT
An employee of a business in the 1000 block of Waukegan Road called police at 3:37 p.m. May 31, to report a woman removed several bottles of wine and left the store without paying.
DOG PROBLEM
A resident in the 4000 block of Phyllis Road reported at 6:01 p.m. May 31, his dogs were bit by his neighbor’s dog. The dog owner was located and issued citations.
DISPUTE
An employee of a business in the 500 block of Dundee Road called police at 2:49 p.m. June 1, to report a customer began yelling and pushing employees due to services that were provided. Officers arrived, and the customer apologized and left without further incident.
