NORTHBROOK, IL — When not shooting pucks at goals, the Glenbrook North Hockey Club is busy scoring money for the American Cancer Society. For the second straight weekend, members of the junior-varsity and varsity teams were out in the community creating awareness and raising money for "GBNHC Fights Cancer."

Tina Katsamakis, a member of the GBNHC board of directors, told Patch that the players raised $3,187.96 the past two weekends with donation tables set up outside Jewel-Osco (2775 Pfingsten Road) and Georgie V's (1139 Church St.).

For the philanthropic initiative, the club has created an alliance with Glenbrook North's Relay for Life and all money raised will be contributed through that campaign, according to Katsamakis.

"Dine to Donate" events are scheduled throughout the rest of the month and October at local Northbrook establishments like Grill House, Chipotle and Graeter's.
