NORTHBROOK, IL — Halloween weekend is here, which means plenty of eerie activities for local families to take part in all the way through Thursday, Oct. 31. Take a look at a quick rundown of some family-friendly Halloween activities planned for Glenview and Northbrook — or add your local event to the Northbrook or Glenview Patch calendars for free.

Halloween Story Fest

The Northbrook Public Library is holding a celebration with stories, crafts and fun from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25. Those interested can register online.

Halloween Party

Abt Electronics is hosting its annual Halloween party with in-store trick-or-treating for kids from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 in the atrium of the store at 1200 Milwaukee Ave. Abt will offer free digital photos of costumed kids.

Family Halloween

Wagner Farm is hosting a kid-friendly Halloween event with wagon rides, a haunted barn, pumpkin games and more from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27. Tickets are available online.

Halloween At Kohl Children's Museum

The museum invites visitors to wear costumes for Super Hero Day on Tuesday, Oct. 29. Then from 3 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, the museum will be giving away treats in a trick-or-treating scavenger hunt through its exhibits.

Halloween Trick-or-Treating

  • In Glenview, hours for trick-or-treating runs from 3 to 7 p.m.
  • In Northbrook, trick-or-treat hours are 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Halloween, October 31.

Halloween Costume Contest

Pinstripes in Northbrook is holding a costume contest for children and adults on Friday, Nov. 1. Judging for the kids contest begins at 7 p.m. and for grown-ups at 9 p.m. at the 1150 Willow Road location.

Halloween Candy Collection for the Troops

Extra candy from the holiday can be donated to the Great Lakes USO at the North Suburban YMCA at 2705 Techny Road anytime during regular hours from Nov. 1 to Nov. 8.
