Highwood Man Accused Of Selling Marijuana-Infused Candy To Teen
Police say the man sold a THC-laced "gummy" to a 13-year-old Northbrook resident.

NORTHBROOK, IL — A Highwood man has been accused of selling a marijuana-laced candy to a Northbrook teen. Christian Porras, 21, of the 200 block of Prairie Avenue, was arrested around 6 p.m. on Thursday and charged with unlawful delivery of cannabis within 1000 feet of school grounds, Northbrook police said.
The charge is a class 3 felony. Porras' arrested followed a weeklong investigation conducted by Northbrook Detectives, according to a news release. Police said the investigation revealed that Porras sold star-shaped candy infused with THC, the active ingredient in cannabis, to a 13-year-old Northbrook resident.(Sign up for our free daily newsletters and Breaking News Alerts for the Northbrook, Highland Park/Highwood, or another local Patch.)
This type of drug infused candy is referred to as a “gummy” because of its textural similarity to a popular candy, according to police.

Porras was transported to the Second District Courthouse in Skokie on Friday morning, according to Northbrook Police. His next court date has been set for June 14.
