Northbrook Police Blotter: June 9 - June 15

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of police activity and of incidents reported to the police. Readers are reminded an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges can be dropped or reduced. All defendants are innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

SOLICITOR COMPLAINT

After Northbrook police received several complaints of people soliciting without village permits, three people from Michigan, aged 21, 25 and 33 were located by officers and issued local ordinance citations on the evening of June 8 and afternoon of June 9.

BURGLARY

Sometime during the afternoon of June 9, someone pried open the front door, entered a home and stole jewelry and possibly other items, a resident of Mayapple Court reported. The investigation continues.

BICYCLE THEFTS

A locked black Trek bicycle valued at $350 was stolen from the bike rack on the west side of the railroad tracks on the 1400 block of Shermer Road, police were informed June 9 at 6:50 p.m.

A locked red Trek bicycle valued at $500 was stolen from the fence near the Metra station in the 1400 block of Shermer Road, it was reported on June 9 at 7:12 p.m.

LICENCE PLATE THEFT (FROM GARBAGE)

A Northbrook resident reported that in November 2016 they had sold a vehicle and removed its license plates, throwing them into the garbage. Then in April, they got a letter from the City of Chicago notifying them of unpaid parking tickets on the old licence plates. It was reported to police on the afternoon of June 13.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE

A resident of the 800 block of Sanders Road reported that sometime between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on June 14, sometime removed a permanent handicapped placard from inside an unlocked vehicle.

DUI

Aimee Calvert, 40, of the 600 block of North Pineridge Drive in Oswego was arrested at 12:42 a.m. on June 10. Police said they witnessed her commit several traffic violations as she drove westbound on Dundee Road before they pulled her over. Police said after speaking to Calvert they determined she was under the influence and placed under arrest. She was charged with DUI, cited for illegal transportation of alcohol, speeding, improper lane usage, and a blood alcohol content more than 0.08. She was processed and released after posting bond with a July 2 court date.

DUI

Rogelio Gomez-Bello, 31, of the 400 block of South Lincoln Avenue in Waukegan, was arrested at 2:51 a.m. on June 10 at the intersection of Willow and Pfingsten roads. Police said they witnessed him failure to signal. After pulling him over and speaking to him, they determined he was under the influence and placed him under arrested. He was charged with DUI, a blood alcohol content more than 0.08, driving with a suspended license. He was also cited for failure to signal and an expired registration. He was processed and released after posting bond with a July 26 court date.
