Gas Main Fire Extinguished; Evacuation Lifted (UPDATED)
The Northbrook blaze in the area of Keystone Road and Chartres Drive started Sunday when a downed tree and electrical wire broke a gas main.

Northbrook, IL—Firefighters extinguished a fire caused by a gas main break Sunday in the area of Keystone Road and Chartres Drive, and the evacuation of homes in that Northbrook neighborhood has been lifted, according to a village press release.
ComEd was still working to restore power to homes by Sunday night, the release stated. The streets also remain closed to traffic while work is being done, the release added.

Northbrook, IL—About a dozen homes have been evacuated and Keystone Road and Chartres Drive has been closed Sunday because of a fire started by a gas main break caused by a downed tree and electrical wire, according to a village release.
Northbrook fire and police crews are monitoring the fire while Nicor works to shut down the gas line, the release stated. That could happen as soon as late afternoon or early evening, the release added.
