House Fire Injures Dog in Northbrook Tuesday

Firefighters saved the canine from a burning home near downtown.

NORTHBROOK, IL - A house caught fire near downtown Northbrook Tuesday afternoon, injuring a family dog.

The dog was saved from the burning home in the 1800 block of Spruce Street just after 1:30 p.m., but “it doesn’t look good” for him, Northbrook Fire Chief Jose Torres told the Northbrook Star.

All other members of the family escaped the blaze without injury.

Firefighters took just more than 15 minutes to put of the fire, which only damaged the basement of the home. The upper floors sustained smoke damage.
