K9 Cop Called in To Find Weed During Traffic Stop
The unit from Highland Park also assisted Northbrook police in a DUI arrest on Waukegan Road.

NORTHBROOK, IL - Northbrook police called in a K9 unit from Highland Park shortly after 1 a.m. on Jan. 23 after a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Willow Road in which officers smelled marijuana on a group of four young men.
The occupants of the vehicle - all between 18 and 21 years of age and residents of Chicago and Skokie - admitted to consuming alcohol, according to police. A search of the vehicle turned up a small amount of marijuana and the K9 officer later found drug paraphernalia.
The men were charged with consumption alcohol by minor, and one of them with an additional possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The driver was also charged with improper lane usage.

Before the Highland Park K9 unit returned to its home base, they helped assist Northbrook police in the arrest of a DUI suspect who had been suspected in a hit-and-run crash in Des Plaines earlier that night.
In that stop, the Highland Park officers spotted a car with two blown out tires driving southbound on Waukegan Rd. near Founders. A 30-year-old Rolling Meadows woman was charged with improper lane usage, unsafe tires, DUI and DUI over .08 after police in Northbrook were alerted to the scene.
