Man Nearly Robbed at Chase Bank ATM in Northbrook

Police say a suspect had approached a vehicle Wednesday night with a gun.

Police in Northbrook are investigating a late Wednesday night attempted armed robbery at the Chase Bank drive-thru ATM at Dundee and Pfingsten.

A man told police that around 9:45 p.m. he was approached by an offender with a gun while he was trying to withdraw money from the ATM. He said the suspect opened a vehicle door and pointed a handgun in the direction of multiple victims in the vehicle, but the victim was able to drive away without incident.

When police responded, they could not locate the offender, who is described as a black man, 5’8-5’10, 180 lbs., possibly in his 20s with short black hair and no marks or visible tattoos. He was wearing dark clothing with no logos or writing and a black bandana during the attempted robbery.
