Man Pretends to Be Northbrook Resident's Grandson
The resident reported to the police that he transferred about $3,000 to a person who claims he was his grandson.

Deceptive practice
A Northbrook resident told police he was contacted by a subject posing as his grandson, stating he was arrested for drug possession and needed $2000 for bail money.

As instructed, the resident went to CVS Pharmacy and purchased Green Dot money cards and relayed the numbers on the cards to a Peter Chase, who stated he was the grandson’s attorney. He was then instructed to purchase more money cards totaling $700 to pay for attorney fees, which he gave to CHASE.
When the resident later attempted to reach his grandson at the phone numbers on the caller ID, both numbers had been disconnected.

DUI
James R. Doar, 50, of Northbrook was involved in a traffic accident on August 14. Officers determined that the defendant was under the influence. He was placed under arrest, transported to PSB for processing. The defendant was released on bond.
