Man Runs From Car Crash, Cops: Northbrook Police Blotter

The Roselle resident was stopped with the assistance of the Deerfield Police Department.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

STOLEN LICENSE PLATES

Matthew Skolnick, of Highland Park, is accused of theft, no valid registration, and was arrested at 3:53 p.m. Aug. 4, at Dundee and Waukegan roads. Northbrook police responded to the area because of a vehicle seen with stolen license plates attached from the state of Montana. A court date of Sept. 21 was assigned.

RETAIL THEFT

Hasaan Z. Carr, of Waukegan, is accused of retail theft, and was arrested at 1 p.m. Aug. 8, in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road. Carr had reportedly been identified as the offender in a May 4 retail theft incident. Police said he admitted to stealing clothing from the store. A court date of Sept. 25 was assigned.

AUTOMOBILE CRASH

Ryan M. Dahl, of Roselle, is accused of failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and was arrested at 3:03 a.m. Aug. 8, at Huehl Road and Woodhead Drive. Police said they noticed a 2014 Toyota sedan had crashed into a fence and electrical transformer box. The driver, later identified as Dahl, was not in the vehicle. Dahl was located a few blocks away walking, but when the officers called to him, he allegedly fled. With the assistance of the Deerfield Police Department, Dahl was stopped. A court date of Sept. 8 was assigned.

DRUG POSSESSION

Sonia D. Raggs, of Chicago, is accused of possession of a controlled substance, having a defective headlight, suspended driver's license, suspended registration, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 10:10 p.m. Aug. 10, in the 700 block of Skokie Boulevard. A court date of Sept. 7 was assigned.

INCIDENTS

RETAIL THEFT

The manager of a retail store in the 900 block of Willow Road called police at 7 p.m. Aug. 6, to report someone came into the store and stole several bottles of perfume that were on display.

BURGLARY TO VEHICLES

The staff at a plumbing facility in the 1800 block of Techny Court reported at 6:04 a.m. Aug. 7, someone broke into two of their vans, a 2015 white Ford Transit and a 2018 white Ford Transit. One of the vans had its lock broken from the rear door and several tools were taken. The other van had its driver’s side window smashed, but the offender wasn’t able to gain entry into the rear portion of the van that contained the tools.

THEFT

A resident in the 200 block of Maple Avenue called police at 4:04 p.m. Aug. 9, to report she had a new debit card sent to her front porch by a delivery company. When she went to retrieve it, the debit card was gone. She checked her surveillance system and noticed an unknown female had arrived shortly after the delivery, stole the new card, and already started fraudulently using it.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

A resident in the 2000 block of Plymouth Lane reported at 9:50 a.m. Aug. 10, said someone shattered his front storm door during the overnight hours.
